Seven teams including two from Bowdon, and one each from Oxford, Ranburne, Tallapoosa, and Woodland all competed in the two-day event.

Tray Owens took the mound in game one Friday night as the Braves dominated Woodland by a final of 19-3. Dale Thornhill and Caden Raines also pitched in the game.

After scoring five runs in the first inning the Braves bats stayed hot the rest of the way as the game was stopped by the mercy rule after three innings of play.

The Braves returned to action Saturday versus the tourney host Ranburne. The Braves bats stayed hot as they took down the Bulldogs 15-4 in four innings. Will Hammett started the game and Bob Henderson pitched in relief.

The Braves next match-up Saturday was a much more difficult match-up against the Bowdon Red Devils. The Braves managed to win a very close exciting game 8-7 behind the pitching of Thornhill, Raines, and Owens.

The win advanced the Braves to the championship game where they would face the same Red Devils squad once again. This time the game would not be close as the Braves bats once again heated up for a 13-4 win giving them the big tourney win.

Owens was the winning pitcher in the game. The team will next compete in the West Georgia All-Star invitational where Villa Rica is the defending champion.

This big tournament will take place June 11-16 at the Heard County Sports Complex. (Thanks to Christy Thornhill, Brittany Sims, and HCPR for article information)
