(Carrollton, GA) — Coach Josh Parmer and the 10U Braves football team pulled off an 8-6 win over Villa Rica White last Saturday at the 2015 B-Bracket Kiwanis Bowl Championship game in at the Carroll County Recreation Department.

Quarterback Todd Huey, Jr. scored a TD on a short rush with 3:24 to play in first quarter and then connected with Erozinis “RoRo” Edmondson, Jr. on the 2-point conversion pass which would be all the scoring the Braves would need.

The Wildcats broke away for a long score in the second quarter but were unable to convert the extra point try as the Braves defense stiffened.

The Brave defense was the story of the game as they totally shut down the Cat offense in the second half.

Jacob Miles and Mason Bailey anchored the defensive front with Huey and Will Alford making some big plays behind them.

The stand-out player of the game was Jonathan Lacey especially late in the game.

After the Cats’ offense took over with under three minutes to play and looking for a game-winning drive, Lacey made three huge tackles — all for losses — to end the game and earn the first place trophy for the Braves.

“I am thankful that these boys played their hearts out today,” said Parmer after the game. “We had a very close game — all of our starters went above and beyond what they needed to do and we pulled it out. Our defense stood strong all day other than that one busted play. I am just super proud of what these boys accomplished this year.”

Coach Cain Dean and the 12U Braves suffered a difficult loss to Villa Rica Purple in the A-Bracket Championship game at Carrollton High School.

The Braves fell 41-12 to one of the best 12U teams in the area to finish off a tremendous season. Cody Hand and Eli Dean each had touchdown runs in the loss.
