(Augusta, GA) — Augusta Aviation, Inc. announced William Dustin Raines this week as the first recipient of the General Aviation Initiative Pilot Training (GAIPT).

The company narrowed the selection to Dustin based on his application packet which included an essay along with personal and professional references. Dustin’s knowledge of aviation combined with his enthusiasm for flying made him the perfect inaugural candidate for this program.

Dustin, a Franklin native and 2008 graduate of Heard County High School moved to the Augusta area in 2017 after completing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Science and Management from Middle Georgia State University.

Along with this degree, he was able to earn his helicopter pilot’s license with commercial and instrument ratings. Unfortunately, student loans ran out short of Dustin’s goal to become a helicopter flight instructor.

Dustin is extremely grateful and thrilled to be selected as the first recipient of the GAIPT program and to have the opportunity to become a fixed wing certified flight instructor (CFI).

Dustin began this journey yesterday with a 6-month target to have his commercial fixed wing add-on and CFI rating.

Join Augusta Aviation in congratulating Dustin on this achievement, and please wish him well as he embarks on an aggressive training schedule.
