(Franklin) — The Heard County High School Cheerleading squad hosted their biggest fundraiser of the year last week. The 22 cheerleaders held a three day cheer camp for children ages 3-12 to raise money for the purchase of new uniforms for the junior varsity squad.
A large crowd gathered at the HCHS gymnasium on Friday for a presentation by the campers and awards were given to the 91 girls that participated.
Each age group gave a performance of cheer and dance combined. Every child received a T-shirt, award certificate and a goody bag.
The Spirit Stick award was given to a cheerleader in each age group that stood out in all aspects in the camp.
Spirit Stick Winners at the 2014 camp were: Abby Reed (ages 3-4), Kylie Nichol (age 5), Abigail McLain (age 6), Lila Harrod (ages 7-8), and Brianna Hill (ages 9-12).
The Heard County Cheerleaders also gave an awesome performance for the crowd before handing out the Best of Awards.
Coach Amanda Pike expressed her gratitude to all the girls on a job well done. Coach Pike stated, “Thank you to every one that came, that gave, that participated, we thoroughly appreciate all the help to build up cheerleading in Heard County. I want to give a special thanks to Dana Banks, Cindy Harrod, Angela Wiggins, Tara Neighbors, Carol Langley, and our Sponsors: Mud Creek, Kroger in LaGrange, and Publix in Carrollton as well as all the parents that signed their children up and brought them every day.
