2019 Year in Review for Heard County Health Department

(Franklin, GA) — 2019 was a very busy year for the Heard County Health Department!

Callie Hill, FNP, was hired March 3, 2019 to provide expanded services to clients of the Heard County Health Department.

Callie is a Family Nurse Practitioner, which allows her to provide additional services for chronic diseases (such as hypertension and diabetes) & acute conditions (such as flu, strep, and upper respiratory infections).

Please see the Heard County Health Department website page for a flyer with a list of updated Nurse Practitioner services.

Speaking of flyers… District 4 Public Health has a new social media/marketing department who keep our Facebook pages updated, as well as produce ads, commercials, and flyers for each county.

In our schools:

Heard County Health Department provided flu vaccines to the students and staff of all Heard County Schools.

Centralhatchee Elementary School (40 doses administered)

Ephesus Elementary School (18 doses administered)

Heard Elementary School (141 doses administered)

Heard Middle School (85 doses administered)

Heard High School (40 doses administered)

The Health Department also began offering Child Health Checks at all three Elementary Schools and Heard Middle School on September 5, 2019. So far, approximately 100 Child Health Checks have been completed. The Child Health Checks will continue until the end of the school year.

In our community:

Heard County Health Department administered 25 doses of the Hepatitis A vaccine to inmates and employees of the Heard County jail. This was done in response to an increase of Hepatitis A cases in surrounding states and northern Georgia in hopes of decreasing the spread of hepatitis A.

We look forward to serving you in 2020!
