3rd Annual Heard County Farm Day

(Franklin/Times-Journal) — The 3rd Annual Heard County Farm Day was held on October 2 at the Heard County Arena.

It was a fun day out of the classroom for third and fourth graders across the county. They had a great opportunity to be outside and learn about agriculture!

The Farm Day was coordinated and sponsored by the West Georgia Soil and Water Conservation District, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, Heard County Government, Heard County Farm Bureau, Heard County Board of Education, Heard County FFA, and Carroll EMC.

The event provided all of the third and fourth grade students the opportunity to learn about agriculture and natural resources from some firsthand experience!

As the students rotated around the arena, they learned about all facets of agriculture and related topics.

Students learned about bees and honey production, raising horses, wildlife management, forestry, raising rabbits, geology, detector dogs.

All of the farm presenters were local farmers.

After lunch the students were treated to a short exhibition from the Heard County Junior Rodeo Team.
