8U Braves shut down Devils in youth opener

(Franklin, GA) — The 8u Heard County Recreation Department Braves football team opened the regular season Saturday with a 29-0 win over Bowdon at Staples Stadium.

Brody Buc Cofield put the Braves on top early scoring on a 60-yard scamper on the 3rd play of the game.

After a quick three and out on defense, the Braves scored again on a 65-yard run by Zach Donnell.

The Braves also had big runs from Ben Schory, Aiden Estes and Tyler Phillpot. Gunner Copeland added to the scoring with two receptions from Cofield on two-point conversions. Cofield and Donnell scored two touchdowns each to lead the young Braves’ opening day rout.

The Braves defense played lights out with several tackles behind the line of scrimmage as they pitched the shutout.

The 8U Braves next battle Carrollton White this upcoming Saturday at 3:00 PM at Carrollton High School.

In other week two action next Saturday, the 10U Braves will take on Bremen Royal at Bremen High School (10:30 AM) and the 12U Braves travel to Bowdon High to take on the Red Devils at 9:00 AM.
