All state lineman prepares for AT&T Georgia Junior Bowl

Junior offensive lineman Jake Edwards will represent Heard County and the Braves tomorrow in the third annual AT&T Georgia Junior Bowl (1:00pm/ESPN3).

He is one of 98 rising seniors throughout the state who was selected to participate in this prestigious postseason game that will be played at Grady High School in Atlanta with a 1:00 pm kickoff.

Edwards recruiting stock appears to be very much on the rise as he was also just named this week as a first team all state lineman by both the Associated Press and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

The 6-foot 4-inch 270-pound lineman will be a member of a West team which will be coached by Chip Walker, who led Sandy Creek to the Class AAAA state championship.

The East team will be coached Ware County’s Ed Dudley. Ware County lost to Gainesville in the state Class AAAAA finals.

The Georgia Junior Bowl is the first all-star football game of its kind showcasing the top high school football players in the state of Georgia, the purpose of the game is to enhance student athletes recruiting exposure before their senior year and to aide in the their development academically, athletically and socially.

In addition to the game itself, which will feature the top prospects statewide from the Class of 2014, RisingSeniors.com has formed an alliance with the NFL Players Association to introduce a character and life skills development program designed to provide resources to assist students dealing with the challenges ahead.

The camp covers several different categories with each topic presented by professionals in their respective fields. Some of these topics include NCAA compliance, Sports/Social Media training, and SAT/ACT test prep strategies just to name a few.

The teams began practice on Friday although inclement weather did postpone some of the outdoor activities on Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPN3.

The AT&T Junior Bowl is held in association with AT&T, the NFL Players Association, Rawlings, the NFL, and Curing Kids Cancer.
