ATV accident claims life of 7-year-old boy in Hogansville

(Hogansville, GA) — A 7-year-old Lagrange boy died tragically over the weekend following an ATV accident near Hogansville.

On December 5th, 2020 at 10:30 AM, deputies with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 270 Wilson Road, Hogansville, in regards to an unknown problem which was upgraded to a 7-year-old male child not breathing.

While responding to the incident, units were advised by 911 dispatch that the caller was now at another location as they had put the child (identified as Bradley Kennedy), in a vehicle and proceeded to the Well Star West Georgia Medical Center.

Responding units along with fire and EMS personnel were able to make contact with the vehicle and lifesaving measures including CPR began on the child as he was not breathing or responding at that time.

According to a press release issued by the TCSO today, the child was transported to Well Star West Georgia emergency department by ambulance where he later passed away.

Investigators with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office responded to the incident location at 270 Wilson Road and through speaking with family members and a neighbor, determined the following occurred:

Shortly before 10:30 AM (unknown exact time) Bradley was riding a four-wheeler on the property and at some point the four-wheeler overturned on top of him, pinning him underneath it.

Bradley’s great grand-father went outside to check on him and that is when he found the child pinned under the four-wheeler. At that point the great grand-father up righted the four-wheeler and put Bradley in his truck to drive him to the hospital.

“This case appears to be a tragic accident and our thoughts and prayers are certainly with the family of young Bradley,” said TCSO Sgt. Stewart Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at 12:00 pm at the Higgins Funeral Home at Hunter Allen Myhand Chapel with Pastor Woody Woodard and Pastor Jim Butler officiating. Interment will follow at Meadoway Gardens.

Family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5-7 pm at the funeral home.
