Beekeeping Presentation at Centralhatchee Elementary

Local beekeepers and Centralhatchee parents, Loy and Nola Howard, demonstrated the art of beekeeping to a group of very enthusiastic CES students.Claire Howard, a fourth-grader at Centralhatchee Elementary, assisted her parents in the presentation and is a beekeeper as well.Mr. Howard explained the process of beekeeping and the importance of bees to our world.Additionally, Mr. Howard brought an actual hive, tools for extracting honey, a bee suit, and beeswax candles.

A sweet treat for all was a taste of the Howards’ delicious honey.Students were also given a pamphlet on bees and a package of wildflower seeds to plant at home.Principal Carol Thomas wishes to thank the Howard family for their educational presentation, time, and generosity.
