Ricky and Tonya McDonald, owners of Big Daddy’s Barbecue announced this week that his company has acquired the location which had been occupied by T-Roy’s BBQ.
Big Daddy’s Barbecue will open to the public on Monday, September 24 and will be serving an expanded menu while operating every day of the week from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. with the exception of Sundays. In addition to most of the menu items which were a part of the T-Roy’s menu Big Daddy’s will also be serving brisket and chicken.
McDonald hopes to expand the menu even further in the near future once he establishes and builds his customer base. A new eating place is always welcome in Franklin where several restaurants have closed during the economic downturn.
Included in these closings is the Burrito Express which reportedly closed its doors last week.
“We are also very excited to announce that we will be offering a full catering service,” stated Ricky McDonald via telephone interview Tuesday.
Big Daddy’s Barbecue has won several awards during the past few years including best barbecue at both the Coweta County “Up in Smoke” festival and the “Florida-Georgia Tailgate Party”competition.
The Big Daddy’s Barbecue slogan is “Competition Proven and Paw Paw Approved.” Paw Paw refers to Tonya McDonald’s father Billy Ward, a popular long-time Coweta County Fire Fighter who passed away recently after an extended illness.
Big Daddy’s will be located near Dollar General across from the Old Recreation Department
