Blue Devils shut out Braves

(Franklin) — The Bremen Blue Devils reinforced why they are Class AA’s number one ranked team in the state of Georgia Tuesday afternoon as they stopped the Braves at home 13-0 in five innings.

Bremen capitalized on nine walks and three hit batters by Braves pitching to break the game wide open with eight runs in the second inning.

The Braves only managed four hits in the game off Blue Devil starter Chase Trader including one each from Tristan Brown, Lee Kay, Dylan Yates, and Drew Wulff.

Senior Jared McCullough pitched well in relief for the braves allowing just one earned run over two innings.

Although the undefeated Blue Devils have secured Region 5-AA’s top seed for the state playoffs, the other three seeds are all still very much up in the air as the season enters its final week.

The Braves will battle with Jordan and Bowdon for the two, three, and four spots with the most important games coming in Bowdon today where the Red Devils host Jordan (5:30) and then this Friday when they host the Braves (5:30).

Coach Trent Bianco and his team will have a much clearer picture of their playoff picture after today’s game between the Red Jackets and Devils.

At this point the Braves could fall into any seeding position from two through four. Region 5-AA will match up with Region 7-AA in the first round of the GHSA State playoffs beginning May 2-3.
