Lee Boone soundly defeated incumbent June Jackson in Tuesday’s run-off election to determine the Republican Party candidate for Heard County Commission Chair in the upcoming general election.
Boone will now face Democratic candidate Russ Massa who ran unopposed in the primary. Boone garnered 68% of the vote and won all of the precincts with the exception of Cooksville which Jackson won by five votes. Jackson is currently serving her second term in office.
“I would like to thank all the people that turned out to vote today. I am overwhelmed and humbled by the numbers. I would like to wish Russ Massa good luck in November,” stated Boone Tuesday night.
“I want to congratulate Lee Boone on his win in the Republican primary run-off. I look forward to facing him in November where I hope we see the biggest voter turnout in Heard County history. If we want leaders who represent us all it is important that we all have our voices heard at the polls.” ~Russ Massa
The general election, which will include the National Presidential race, will take place on November 6, 2012. The final day to register to vote in the November 6 general election is October 8, 2012.
