The Braves varsity football team held its annual “Midnight Madness” on Thursday, July 26 at Staples Stadium. Prior to the special midnight practice several Brave football alumni spoke to the team which is gearing up for another season with very high expectations.
The Braves, who return all but three starters from last year’s 7-4 team, are expected to be strong contenders for the Region 5-AA title in the newly remodeled region which now includes old rival foes Bowdon and Bremen among others.
The underclassmen Braves listened intently during a closed session to helpful advice and comments from former Brave stand-outs Carlos Brown, Dontavius Jackson, and Angelos Brown.
Following those comments each of the Braves current Seniors gave their very heartfelt “Senior Speeches” to the team with the focus being on the expectations of the upcoming season.
The Braves will travel to Haralson County on August 17 for a preseason scrimmage before opening the regular season at “The Pulpwood Classic” versus bitter rival The Callaway Cavaliers.
The Classic will kick-off at 7:30 on Saturday night, August 25 at Callaway Stadium in Lagrange. Brave fans are encouraged to arrive early that night as a large crowd is expected to attend.
A special trophy will be unveiled and the winning team that night will take possession of it to display at their school until the teams meet again in 2013.
