(Franklin, GA) — This week Heard County Braves Baseball on Facebook is highlighting each of the five senior Brave baseball players.

Head coach Trent Bianco Each one of these guys is a true definition of what it means to be a “Brave.” Today’s senior is Dale Thornhill.

Below are some thoughts from each coach about Dale.

Tonight, Braves baseball will be turning the lights on Alford Field at 8:00 PM!

Fans are encouraged to drive by and give a honk and show your support for the Brave seniors! Lights will remain on until 9:30 PM.

Coach Tyler Spradlin on Dale:

“Dale, your mentality and smoothness at short was how you carry yourself on and off the baseball field and that to me says something about you. If there is a bad hop in life or on the field, you don’t let it bother you and you carry on with your positive attitude that is a joy to be around. Thank you for being so coachable and knowing that when we were tinkering with your swing, you trusted me enough to do it and that means a lot to me. I love you bud and know that if there is anything you ever need, this coaching staff and myself will always be here for you.

Coach Hornsby on Dale:

“While I have never known of any baseball player in the history of the game to name his glove after his girlfriend, she sure has been good to us the past four years! You have stepped up and lead our program better than we could’ve ever expected. Someone will be getting a very good player next year and I wish you the very best.”

Coach Porter on Dale:

“Dale was a gritty ball player. Dale took the best butt chewing I could give and turned it into an opportunity to learn and grow. I will always be thankful for that very moment. He was one of the best defensive shortstops in the state. Like Caden, Dale was as much of an on field coach as he was a player. Guys like him and Caden made me step back and learn how to be a better coach myself.”

Coach Trevor Spradlin on Dale:

“I enjoyed watching you play every minute of every game. I think it was because you worked so hard to get where you are. I know that your dedication to the game won’t change and that’s what will carry you at the next level. Good luck and I’m proud of everything you’ve done.”

Coach Bianco on Dale:

“Not many people can say they were a varsity shortstop the minute they stepped on a high school campus. You earned that through showing up every day and going to work. That’s something to be extremely proud of. When the ball was hit in your direction I already started to turn away because it was going to be an out. It’s been a pleasure to watch you mature and grow into the person you are today. You’ve embodied everything we want in someone that puts on a jersey that says “Heard County”. You’ve been a great role model for our underclassman and I can’t wait to see where the future takes you. Your character and work ethic will make you successful in whatever you end up doing.”
