(Franklin) — Heard County High School’s annual homecoming week celebration is this week and will feature several traditional events for both students and the local community.

The homecoming football game will take place this Friday, October 20 when the Braves take on the Jordan Red Jackets. The theme for this year is “Nightmare on Main Street.”

Highlighting the week-long festivities will be the crowning of the 2017 Homecoming Queen during halftime of the game and the crowning of the Homecoming King during a special assembly Friday afternoon in the Heard High gymnasium.

The HHS homecoming court consists of six senior females and six senior males, as well as one female and one male representative from the freshmen, sophomore, and junior classes.

This year’s female court includes seniors Amiah Person, Maddie Noojin, Sage Kelley, Caylee Meacham, Anna Cosper, Alexis Nelms, freshmen representative Annie Bradley, sophomore representative Tori Manders, and junior representative Ellie Googe.

The male court includes seniors AJ Head, Davey Raines, Emory Jones, Zane Mitchell, Eli Caldwell, and Wyatt Snyder, freshman representative Whit Pope, sophomore representative Eli Person, and  junior representative Alijah Huzzie.

The dress up days for homecoming week are one of the more popular aspects for students and include Rockers vs. Rappers (Monday), Dynamic Duos (Tuesday), Country vs. Country Club (Wednesday), Disney Day (Thursday) and Brave Spirit Day (Friday).

The biggest event for the children in the community is the annual Homecoming Parade which takes place Thursday afternoon at 4:30 on the square in downtown Franklin.

The Grand Marshall for this year’s parade will be Mrs. Leesa Cothran.
