Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (05/11/16)

(Franklin) — Each week brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

Big Game 3 — The Braves take on the Holy Innocents Golden Bears at Alford Field today at 5:00 PM. The winner will advance to the Final Four of the Class AA State Playoffs. The Braves have not reached the Final Four since 1985.

Sports Banquet — The HHS winter and spring sports banquet will be held May 18 at 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. Sports included are wrestling, basketball, track and field, and tennis.

Sportsmanship Award — HHS has been selected for the Region 5-AA Sportsmanship Award for 2015-2016 by secret ballot. The high school has won this award several times.

Kay TGBrave Nation Player of the Week: The Player of the Week is varsity baseball player Lee Kay.

Kay pitched the Braves to an important Sweet 16 victory over Lamar County last week and also leads the Braves in season batting with a .453 average.

Congratulations to Lee for being named this week’s Player of the Week!

State Track Meet — Brave distance runner Holly Moreland finished 15th in the state last week with a time of 13:57:57 in the 3200 Meter Run.

Summer Baseball Camp — Brave coach Trent Bianco will host the 2016 Summer Baseball Camp at HHS June 7-9. Stay tuned to for more details later this week.

Wrestling Camp — The future Braves wrestling camp will take place June 20-23 at the Heard High Gym. See a post from earlier this week for more information.
