NEWS AND NOTES

HCMS Softball Opener — The HCMS Softball team under new head coach and former Lady Brave pitcher Alicia Carroll will open the season today at Bowdon before returning home this Thursday for the home opener vs. Villa Rica.

Hapeville Pregame — The theme for this Friday’s huge home football game versus Hapeville is ‘Neon Night’ with students and fans being encouraged to wear bright flourescent colors for the game. The Walker Cadillac Buick GMC Tailgate Show will emanate live from Staples Stadium starting at 5:00 PM and the Braves vs. Hornets being featured as Carrollton’s B92.1 Country Game of the Week. Fans should create an ESPN Gameday type atmosphere near the radio broadcast for a chance to be heard on the radio.

JV Braves — The junior varsity opened their season last Thursday with an exciting 13-7 home win over rival Callaway. Tae Gray scored a rushing TD and Ashton Bonner returned a punt for the other score. On defense, Nathan McGoron had a pivotal fumble recovery and Will Finch led the team in tackles. The JV Braves are back at home this Thursday vs. Temple.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

The Brave Nation Player of the Week is HCMS basketball player Ms. Jayden Boykin.

Jayden is on of the top basketball prospects in the Brave hoop program although she is only in the 7th grade.

Jayden shined at several camps this summer including one in Gadsden, AL in June where she competed with over 125 other kids and was named to the Super 5, 3-on-3 Champion, and 4-on-4 Champion.

Congratulations to Jayden for being named this week’s Brave Nation Player of the Week.

The Braves will host No. 1 ranked defending State Champion Hapeville Charter this Friday at Staples Stadium in a rematch of last year’s Class AA semi-finals. Callaway is ranked No. 3 and Bremen is ranked at No. 6 giving Region 5-AA three teams in the top six. The Braves opponent in game four, Rockmart is ranked at No. 9.
