Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (08/08/17)

(Franklin) — Each week during the sports season, HeardCitizen.com brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

NEWS AND NOTES

Softball Opener — The Lady Braves varsity and JV softball teams will open the regular season today at HHS versus Villa Rica. The JV will start at 4:30 and will be immediately followed by the varsity game at 6:00 PM.

Football Scrimmage #2 — The Braves will travel to Chapel Hill in Douglasville Friday night for the second scrimmage of the season (7:30 PM).

Brave Nation Player of the Week

The Brave Nation Player of the Week is HHS Senior football player Mr. Jaden Moreland.

Jaden earned the preseason Iron Brave Award two weeks ago and also had a huge scrimmage versus Lagrange with an interception on defense and a big touchdown catch on offense.

He also received double-digit scholarship offers during the off-season from Ball State, Air Force, Army and Jacksonville State and many others and was named to the Recruit Georgia preseason all-state defensive team.

Congratulations to Jaden for being named this week’s Brave Nation Player of the Week!

Middle Jamboree — Staples Stadium will host an all day middle school jamboree this Saturday from 10:00 AM until 5:30 PM. The event will feature seven schools with the HCMS teams playing from 10:00 AM – 12 PM versus Landmark Christian and Temple.

Rival Rumble — The Lady braves varsity softball team will travel to Bremen this Saturday for the second annual Rival Rumble versus Bremen and Bowdon. Games will start at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM for the Lady Braves.

Long Tenure — Brave head coach Tim Barron is the second longest tenured coach in Class AA (16 years). He is tied with Dublin’s Roger Holmes and they are each just one year behind Jefferson County’s J.B. Arnold (17 years).

~ HCMS Jamboree Football @ Staples Stadium (10:00 AM vs. Landmark/11:00 AM vs. Temple)
