NEWS AND NOTES

Opening Day — The Lady Braves and JV Lady Braves softball teams will open the regular season at Central of Carrollton today. The varsity game will start at 5:00 followed immediately by the JV game. The teams travel to Villa Rica on Wednesday (JV @4:30 PM/Varsity at 6:00 PM)

Preseason All-State Nods — Three varsity Brave football players were named last week to Recruit Georgia’s Class AA All-State Preseason Team: Emory Jones (QB), Trey Wiggins (K), and Jaden Moreland (DB).

Middle School Jamboree — Staples Stadium at HHS will host a middle school football jamboree this Saturday, August 13 @ 10:00 AM. The Middle Braves will be in action.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

Trey POWThe Brave Nation Player of the Week is senior varsity kicker Mr. Trey Wiggins.

Trey continued his hot kicking during Friday’s 20-13 scrimmage win at Lagrange kicking two field goals (35,25) and two PAT’s.

He had a perfect junior season in 2015 connecting on every PAT and field goal he attempted.

Congratulations to Trey for being named this week’s Player of the Week!

Pizza Fundraiser — The Heard County Marching Braves are holding a pizza kit fundraiser. They will be taking orders through August 12. Money is due with the order. Delivery will be August 22nd. If you are interested please see a band or guard member for more information.

Special Olympics Champion — Dennis Shaw will be competing for his 23rd Special Olympics Medal when he travels to Warner Robbins later this month for a state bowling competition. Good luck Dennis!

Final Scrimmage — The varsity Braves football team will host Chapel Hill in the final preseason scrimmage game this Friday at 7:30 PM at Staples Stadium in Franklin.

Rival Rumble — The Lady Braves softball team will face off with former region rivals Bremen and Bowdon in a three way round robin tournament at HHS this Saturday beginning at 11:00 AM. The Lady Braves will play at 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
