Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (09/04/18)

(Franklin) — Each week during the sports season, HeardCitizen.com brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

NEWS AND NOTES

Former Braves in Lagrange — Former Braves and current junior Berry College football players Jacob Bishop and Chandler Polk will be playing close by this weekend as the Berry College Vikings visit the Lagrange College Panthers at Callaway Stadium. The Vikings opened the 207-2018 season last week with a 38-3 win over Maryville, TN.

Harrod Award Winner at FSU — The FSU Seminole Boosters honored 11 of FSU’s most outstanding female student-athletes in naming its 2017-18 Femina Perfecta Award winners. Former Lady Brave Cali Harrod was selected as the softball honoree. Click here to read more about this award.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

The Brave Nation Player of the Week is HCHS junior softball player Ms. Hannah Holden.

Hannah is having another big season for the Lady Braves and currently holds a .531 batting average, a team-high 17 runs scored, 2 doubles, 2 homers, 13 RBI’s, and 13 steals.

She is also having a solid year defensively on the infield.

Congratulations to Hannah for being named this week’s Brave Nation Player of the Week. 

Class AA State Football Rankings — The Brave football team is ranked No. 3 in Class AA in the Week 3 AJC Poll released on Sunday. Fellow Region 5-AA Callaway is ranked No. 2 and Bremen is ranked at No. 5 giving Region 5-AA three teams in the top six. The Braves opponent this Friday, Rockmart is ranked at No. 8.

HCMS Football Opener — The middle Braves will travel to Haralson County this Thursday (5:30 PM) for the regular season opener versus the Rebels.

Cross-Country Home Meet — The HCHS Cross-Country team will have a home meet on Thursday, September 27 at HCPR.
