Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (10/18/18)

(Franklin) — Each week during the sports season, HeardCitizen.com brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

NEWS AND NOTES

Pulpwood Classic VII — The 7th edition of the ‘Pulpwood Classic’ takes place tomorrow night at Staples Stadium as the Braves host the No. 2 team in the state Callaway. The Cavaliers could claim the Region 5-AA title with a win. The theme for the game is a ‘Blackout.’ The game will be broadcast on B92.1 Country and the Tailgate Show will be aired live from Franklin.

Middle School Football Playoffs — The HCMS Braves football team are the No. 2 seed and will host Villa Rica in a semi-final game today at HCMS. The middle Braves beat Mt. Zion 20-6 at home last week and have come on strong after a slow start to the season.

Brave Nation Player of the Week

The Brave Nation Player of the Week is HCMS football player Mr. Jacob “Juice” Miles.

Jacob has been a force for the middle Braves this season including last week when he scored all three TD’s in a win over Mt. Zion.

‘Juice’ and the middle Braves host Villa Rica in the semifinals of the middle school playoffs at HCMS today. 

Congratulations to Jacob for being named this week’s Brave Nation Player of the Week. 

Lady Braves at Columbus — The Lady Braves will take on Dodge County in game one of the Elite 8 State Tourney next Thursday at Columbus. The No. 1 ranked Rockmart Yellow Jackets were eliminated by Banks County in round two. Monticello has also advanced to the tourney thus far this week.

With Pride — The Marching Braves finished as Class A Champions and 10th of 17 bands overall at the Carrollton band Competition last week. The Marching Braves will travel to the East Georgia Marching Festival in Statesboro on October 27.

Varsity Basketball Openers — The HCHS boys and girls varsity basketball teams will open the regular season at East Coweta on November 15.
