Brave Nation Weekly News & Notes (11/04/15)

(Franklin) — Each week brings you a weekly wrap-up of Brave Nation sports including news, notes, a weekly schedule, and the Brave Nation Player of the Week.

State Cross Country Meet — The GHSA State Championships will take place Saturday at Carrollton High School. The HHS Girls will run at 2:05 PM and the HHS Boys will run at 1:25 PM.

In the News — Senior running back Austin Barron made the AJC’s Top Performances list for his 227-yard rushing effort last week at Temple.

Braves on the Radio — Friday’s game at Bremen will be broadcast by Great Classics 98.9 with Casey Bass and Clay Harden on the play-by-play

Kiwanis Bowl — The recreation department Kiwanis Bowl kicks off this weekend at several locations in Carroll County. See schedule below for times.

Holly FeatureBrave Nation Player of the Week: The Player of the Week is sophomore cross country runner Ms. Holly Moreland.

Holly finished in third place at last weeks Region 5-AA Meet and set a new school record with a time of 22:11.

Congratulations to Holly for being named this week’s Player of the Week!

Signing Day — Three Lady Brave softball players will sign scholarships next Wednesday, November 11 at HHS. Anna Shelnutt will sign with Florida State, Jordan Watson with Michigan State, and Johanna Beyer with Columbus State.

Football Playoff Opener — The Braves will host the Region 8-AA No. 4 seed Greene County in round one of the GHSA Class AA State Playoffs next Friday, November 13 at Staples Stadium. It will be the first ever meeting between the two schools.

HCMS Wrestling Opener — The HCMS Braves wrestling squad will open their season this Thursday in a home meet vs. Callaway and Bremen.

Winter Baseball Camp — Brave head coach Trent Bianco will be hosting his annual youth winter baseball camp at HHS December 9-11. Click here for more information.

Flag Bowl — HCPR will host a one day Flag Bowl featuring all three Heard County flag teams Saturday at 10:00 AM at the recreation department.
