(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County High School tennis team honored its senior players prior to Thursday’s home match versus Newnan.
The girls continued to play some solid tennis and notched a 3-2 win over the larger Class 7A program.
Leading the way were the top two singles and the No. 2 doubles team. Senior Katelyn Smith won her match 8-5 while freshman Chaple Butler took down her Cougar opponent 8-3.
The team of Morgan Nations and Kailey Schneider won a close match by a final tally of 8-6. No. 3 single Juliann Carpenter lost the closest match of the day in a tiebreak.
The boys were shutout by a dominating Cougar men’s team. The match concludes the regular season for the squad and they will next host the Region 5-AA tournament on April 9 at HCHS.
