Braves avenge recent loss in Wedowee

(Wedowee, AL) — The Braves varsity basketball team found quick redemption at Randolph County Monday night as they knocked off the Tigers 46-33 avenging an overtime loss that took place in Franklin just a week earlier.

The Braves got off to a hot start dominating the Tigers 17-2 in the first quarter before the home team battled back to within five at the half by stepping up the defense and holding the Braves to just two in the second quarter. The lead was 10 for the Braves heading to the final quarter.

Jordarius Foster continued to be the hot hand for coach Paul Fitz-Simons leading the team in scoring for the second straight game with 18 points. Christian Murray finished with eight.

In girl’s action, the Lady Braves once again dominated the struggling Lady Tigers winning 55-10.

Senior Madison Whitehead led the way with 21 points including 10 in the second quarter. Jordan Watson and Kimberly Harris each scored eight points with Kemaiya Brewer tallying six.

The JV boys fell 38-34 in the early game. Tray Dunson led the way with 13.

The varsity teams will be back in action at a holiday tournament in Locust Grove next week. The ladies will take on host Locust Grove at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday followed by the boys who also battle the Wildcats.

On Wednesday, the squads will battle fellow Class AA opponent Social Circle with the girl’s game tipping at 11:00 a.m.
