Sophomore Drew Blair shut down the Lions for 4 innings in relief to earn the win Saturday afternoon in Carrollton
(Carrollton, GA) — The Braves closed out the regular season Saturday afternoon in Carrollton where they got a 4-2 extra-inning win over the Lions.
Sophomore Drew Blair got the win on the mound after shutting down the Lions for four innings in relief. Blair allowed only one hit and one walk over the last 12 outs of the game.
A base hit by Senior Taylor Smith drove in Tristan Brown with the go-ahead run in the top of the 8th and Smith also scored an insurance run on a Lion error.
Jared McCullough and Zack Stephens each added an RBI for the Braves. McCullough pulled off a dramatic squeeze bunt to score Smith and tie the game in the top half of the seventh inning when the Braves trailed 2-1.
First year coach Trent Bianco and the Braves close out the regular season with a 17-9 overall record, the most regular season wins by a Braves team since 2009.
They focus now shifts to the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs where they will take on the Coosa Eagles.
