The Brave wrestling team finished in second place at last week’s Callaway Classic Dual meet in Lagrange

(Lagrange, GA) — The Braves varsity wrestling team completed another strong meet last week, finishing in second place at the Callaway Classic Duals held Thursday at Callaway High School in Lagrange.

The Braves finished behind only Whitewater in the 10 team tourney and Haralson County finished in third place.

Coach Kyle Yates and the Braves also finished in fifth place out of 14 teams at the Pepperell Dragon on December 17 and will compete again this Thursday and Friday at the Silva Invitational in Lagrange.

Several Braves had strong meets at Callaway including Gage Cannon (5-0 with two pins) and Eli Fairbanks (5-0) who each went undefeated winning all five of their respective matches.

Other top finishers were Luis Vasquez (4-1 with one pin), Logan Moran (4-1 with one pin), Blakely McAdams (3-2 with three pins), and Jakob Moon (3-2 with one pin).

The Braves defeated Troup County B 54-30, Upson-Lee 39-36, North Atlanta 66-12 and Harris County 45-36 with the lone loss coming 45-36 to Whitewater in the finals.

The squad is working hard throughout the holiday break building towards the Class AA Area Dual Meet which takes place on January 6-7 at Chattooga High School one week prior to the state dual meet at the Macon Centreplex January 13-14.
