Braves power past Handley on Senior Night

(Franklin, GA) — The Braves went back to work in non-region play Tuesday and scored an impressive 13-4 win over Handley in Franklin.

It was Senior Night at the ballpark and Coach Trent Bianco’s seniors certainly delivered including starting pitcher A.J. Head who got the win in his first start of the season.

The Brave offense equaled its highest run output of the season with three different batters notching three hit efforts. A five run bottom of the sixth inning put the game away for Coach Bianco’s squad.

Head worked five innings while scattering three hits and two walks and giving up just three earned runs. The senior hurler struck out five to earn his second win of the year.

Tray Owens and Bryan Jones each tossed a scoreless inning of relief.

At the plate, five Braves had multiple hit games.

Senior Davey Raines went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI’s, senior Bryan Jones was 3-for-3, and junior Tanner Collins was 3-for-4 with a double two runs scored and an RBI.

Leroy Marsh and Will Hammett each had two hits apiece with doubles and Marsh drove in two runs.

The Braves now have an impressive five starters batting over .330 for the season including Jones (.397), Collins (.392), Caden Raines (.389), Davey Raines (.357), and Hammett (.339).

The team will travel to Phenix City, AL today to face Glenwood before closing out the regular season with two more non-region games versus Bremen and Central Saturday at Central.

The Braves will host a round one best-of-three playoff series beginning with a doubleheader versus Region 6-AA next Thursday in Franklin. An if game would be played Friday if necessary.
