Braves Prepare for Powerful Tigers

The Braves will welcome the Carver Tigers to Staples Stadium for the first time tomorrow night. The Tigers, a traditional AAA power from Columbus, have played down at the AA level for the last two years due to lower student numbers based on the construction of a new school set to open in 2012.

They are also just four years removed from winning a AAA state championship. As expected they have dominated at the AA level with the only losses coming to Calhoun last year in the state semi-finals and to the University of Buford this season.

Needless to say it will be a tall order for the young Braves to compete with this program loaded with gifted athletes which fields a varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen team.

Last year the Braves were defeated by the Tigers at Memorial Stadium 34-6, but clearly the guys walked away with heads held high after playing a very good game against a much athletically superior squad. The kids did not back down and were not intimidated at all.

The challenge will be even greater this year with very few upperclassmen on the roster but at least on this occasion the Braves will have the support of the home crowd at Staples.
