Braves streak into big rematch with Callaway

(Franklin, GA) — The varsity girls and boys basketball teams earned road wins at Spencer Tuesday night to push both teams’ records to 15-4 overall and 5-0 in Region 5-AA.

The wins were huge and puts both teams in the driver’s seats for the top seed in the region as they have knocked off each region foe once and now must face each again.

The first rematch will be arguably the biggest as arch rival Callaway comes to Franklin tomorrow night. With both games being very tight affairs at Callaway just two weeks ago, these rematches should again be exciting.

The Braves moved to 5-0 in region with an exciting 81-77 overtime road win at Spencer Tuesday night.

Leading the charge for Coach Keith Simmons and the Braves were Jordarius Foster with 20 points, Dekari Brewer with 18, and Emory Jones with 14.

The Lady Braves dominated the Greenwave 42-22 and the top players were Alexis Nelms and Haley Bennett with eight points each.

Coach Helen Akins was able to get a lot of players into the blowout win and several scored including senior Alyssa Cosper who returned from an injury and is expected to play on Friday.

The Braves are hoping for a huge show of support at home Friday as they face their top region rival in the Cavaliers. The girls tip off at 6:00 PM and the boys will follow at 7:30 PM.
