Braves sweep visiting Tigers

(Franklin) — The Brave varsity basketball teams scored a sweep for the third straight time Tuesday night with both the boys and girls teams taking down the Randolph County Tigers in Franklin.

Seniors Jordarius Foster and Kimberly Harris continued to light up the scoreboard as they have all season long.

Foster led the Braves (4-1) with 20 points and sophomore Alijah Huzzie also finished in double digits with 14 including three 3-point baskets.

Coach Keith Simmons’ Braves jumped out to a big lead early and held a 22-8 advantage after the first quarter before the Tigers closed the margin to 11 at the half.

The final score was 67-52 to extent the Brave winning streak to four. Other top scorers were Emory Jones with nine points and Christian Murray with six.

The Lady Braves (5-2) rolled big from the outset winning by a final of 54-12 and Coach Helen Akins was able to get some quality minutes from her entire lineup.

Harris led the way with 22 and true freshman Tori Caldwell was second with seven. Other top scorers were Alyssa Cosper (6), Ally Harris (5), and Alexis Nelms (5).

The Braves next travel to Randolph County on Friday (6:00/7:30 PM) and Handley (4:00/5:30 PM) on Saturday. They return home to face Troup County next Tuesday night (6:00/7:30 PM).
