Braves take down Handley 4-2

(Roanoke, AL) — The Heard County Braves defeated Handley 4-2 on the road Tuesday as Tray Owens continued to throw well from the mound and hit well from the plate.

Owens earned the win after pitching 5.1 innings and allowing just one earned run.

Leroy Marsh pitched well in relief to earn the save allowing just one hit over 1.2 innings of work.

The Braves scored three in the first and one in the fifth while Handley didn’t get on the board until the bottom of the sixth when they scored two.

Owens and Marsh also led the way at the plate.

Owens went 3-for-4 with a homer and three RBI’s.

He leads the Braves with seven homers and 32 RBI’s on the season. Marsh went 2-for-4 to raise his season average to .337.

The Braves will play two more non-region games this week before next week’s state playoffs.

The team travels to Harris County tomorrow and host Central Friday in the final home game of the season. Both games have a scheduled first pitch at 5:30 PM.

The Braves will travel to either Banks County, Elbert County, or Social Circle for a round one GHSA Class AA playoff doubleheader next Wednesday. A third game would be played Thursday if necessary.
