Braves take first game of series with Tigers

(Franklin) — The Braves moved to 4-0 in Region 5-AA play with a 12-2 win over the Temple Tigers Wednesday afternoon at HHS.

Junior Lee Kay got the win on the mound and returned to the batting lineup for the first time since suffering a broken hand early in the season.

Kay scattered seven hits and a walk over five innings with five strikeouts. He was 1-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored.

The entire offensive had a strong day at the plate pounding out 14 hits in the game which ended in the sixth inning via run rule after a Tristan Brown sacrifice fly scored Zack Hill.

The big inning came in the bottom of the third when the Braves scored seven.

Five different Braves had multiple hits. Junior Logan Ward led the way with three hits including two doubles and three RBI’s. Ward also closed out the game on the mound with a scoreless sixth inning.

Ethan Brant continued to swing the bat very well going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBI’s. Brant now leads the team in hitting with a .421 average.

Chandler Polk, Hill, and Drew Blair each had two base hits.

Coach Trent Bianco and the Braves will travel to Temple tomorrow to close out the series with a doubleheader beginning at 4:30 p.m.
