Bravy Award Nominees (Cheerleading, Cross-Country, Golf, Weightlifting)

The first official Bravy nominees were announced today in four sports including cheerleading, cross-country, golf, and weightlifting.

The nominees for Cheerleader of the Year are Abbie Padgett and Tyesha Wright from Heard High School, Alexis Emory and Erica Emory from Heard County Middle School and Lacey Hindman from the Heard County Parks and Recreation Department.

The nominees for Cross Country Athlete of the Year are Brook Mason, Orlando Burgos, Shawn Foster, and Shemeka Parks all from Heard High School.

The nominees for Weightlifter of the Year include all four of this year’s GACA State Champions. David Robbins, Taron Person, Tori Rogers, and Tyler Wynn will be competing for the first Bravy weightlifting award in what should be a close battle.

Three varsity golfers are the nominees for Golfer of the Year including a freshman girl who finished fourth at the region tournament. The nominees for Golfer of the Year are Forrest Knowles, Jarred Watson, and Katelyn Hull.

Congratulations to all of our first nominees on their outstanding accomplishments this season. Each nominee will receive a free ticket to the awards show and the winner will receive one of the first ever Bravy Awards.

The Bravy Award ceremony will take place at the HCMS Gym on May 11, 2012 starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 the night of the show. To order tickets contact Coach Allen Sikes at (706)675-9274.

  1. Congratulations to the nominees and hopefully this doesn’t turn into a popularity contest. I hope that attitude, sportsmanship and ability are all some of the contributing factors in the decision. A person can be a great competitor but a poor attitude will often overshadow their skill.

  2. Congrats to all of you!! Great job!!
