22-year-old killed after crashing into home

(Franklin, GA) — A young man was killed Sunday night after crashing his truck into a home in northern Heard County.

Kyle Edward Koenig

22-year-old Kyle Edward Koenig died in a single-vehicle crash that took place around 9:30 PM near the intersection of Armstrong Mill Road and Knight Road.

According to a report by Corporal Justin Hogan with the Georgia State Patrol, Koenig was traveling westbound on Armstrong Mill when his 2011 GMC pickup truck failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway striking a brick mailbox.

His vehicle then overturned several times before striking a small dump truck and becoming entangled in the front porch of a home located at 774 Armstrong Mill.

Koenig was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Speed is believed to have been a determining factor in the crash and Corporal Hogan notes that the young man was not wearing a seat belt.

Koenig was a well-liked 2015 graduate of Heard County High School and many of his friends and classmates are remembering him and praying for his family via social media today.
