Annual Franklin Fireworks display this Saturday night

(Franklin, GA) —  The annual Franklin fireworks show is scheduled to take place about 30 minutes after dusk this Saturday night, July 1 in downtown Franklin.

Despite a generally rainy forecast, officials hope the event will be able to go on as planned but a possible rain date for the show would be next Saturday , July 8.

Franklin Police Chief Kevin Hannah says preparations are already well underway from a security standpoint and he hopes the community is able to once again enjoy the town’s biggest event of the year.

“We are hoping the event goes on as scheduled and we think that it will — but myself and other community leaders will be monitoring the weather situation closely over the next 48-72 hours,” says Chief Hannah.

Current forecast models at weather.com as of Thursday morning are calling for mixed clouds with scattered storms early in the day Saturday, but clearing skies are called for Saturday evening and into Saturday night.
