According to a press release issued Thursday evening by Chief Kevin Hannah, the two men were last known to have resided in the Roanoke, AL area.

Reports indicate 29-year-old Sharome Watts of Franklin called 911 himself that night after being shot in the left arm by one of the intruders he discovered upon arrival at his home at approximately that evening.

Law enforcement officers responded to the scene along with personnel from the Heard County Emergency Services.

According to a statement by Watts to police, one of the masked intruders shot him and robbed him of cash he had in his pockets before they both fled the scene.

After an initial evaluation by EMS personnel determined Watts’ injuries were non-life threatening, he was able to give a statement to police before being transported to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton.

While processing the crime scene, law enforcement officers recovered a 9mm shell casing from inside the residence.

Based on the information obtained during the initial investigation, a person of interest was identified within a short period of time and departmental investigator Lieutenant Tino Brooks requested the assistance of Alabama law enforcement in searching for this person.

While working closely with Alabama authorities for several days after the incident, Lieutenant Brooks was able to obtain additional evidence, as well as interview several other people regarding this crime.

As a result of the investigation, two suspects were identified and arrest warrants were issued on Friday, January 2nd.
