Carrollton Man Charged after Hospital Bomb Threat

(Carrollton, GA) — Authorities have arrested a Carrollton man today after a bomb threat disrupted normal activities at an area hospital earlier this morning.

According to a report by Gradick Communications, 30-year-old Matthew McConnell is charged with making terroristic threats after he allegedly phoned in a bomb threat to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton this morning.

Carrollton Police investigators believe the call was made via McConnell’s cell phone from his home located on Bledsoe Street in Carrollton.

“The subject called the switchboard at the hospital between 9:00 and 9:30 this morning, and instructed that he had a bomb placed somewhere in the furthest-most basement of the hospital,” Sgt. Shannon Cantrell of the CPD told WLBB Radio.

Tanner Security Officers along with police responded immediately to the call and conducted a thorough search of the hospital but detected no explosives at the facility. The investigation is ongoing and no motive has been determined at this time.

The hospital resumed normal operations just after 11 a.m. for visitors and patients.
