Conyers bank robbery suspect captured in Troup Co.

(Troup County, GA) — At 1:41 PM today, Deputy Adam Richardson with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office received information regarding a bank robbery suspect out of Conyers, Georgia that was possibly traveling on Interstate 85 southbound in Troup County.

Deputy Richardson made contact with the suspect vehicle just north of Exit 6 in Troup County.

At that point, the vehicle exited the interstate toward Warner Road and eventually began travelling on Bartley Road at which time the driver, identified as 28-year-old Ronald Simons of Stone Mountain began to flee from Deputy Richardson at a high rate of speed.

According to a TCSO press release, the pursuit continued for several miles until it reached the intersection of Hamilton Road and Interstate 85, at which time Deputy Richardson was able to terminate the pursuit.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

Detectives with Conyers Police Department arrived at the scene and took possession of the vehicle which had been reported stolen in Dekalb County February 9 along with evidence of the bank robbery.

The suspect will be booked into the Troup County Jail where he will face a number of charges.

Sheriff Woodruff appreciates the Georgia State Patrol and the LaGrange Police Department in their assistance in this case and the quick response of Conyers Police Department responding to Troup County.
