Death of local infant believed to be sleep-related

(Franklin, GA) — Authorities say the death of a 4-month-old infant boy on Wednesday was likely the result of a sleep-related accident.

According to a report issued by Investigator Mike Soprano with the Heard County Sheriff’s Office, public safety personnel were dispatched to Davis Mobile Home Park on HWY 34 West at around noon Wednesday in regards to an unresponsive infant.

No foul play is suspected in the death, and the baby boy was pronounced dead at the scene.

Per standard protocol, the body has been taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have not released the name of the infant.
