Thursday morning house fire claims the life of elderly woman

(Franklin, GA) — Investigators are examining the cause of a house fire that left one person dead Thursday morning, according to Heard County Fire Chief Steve Wirth.

At around 5:00 AM, firefighters from the Heard County Fire Department responded to a home in the 800 block of Dr. Fisher Road just outside the Franklin city limits.

As crews responded to the scene, they discovered an elderly woman was still inside the burning home.

Chief Wirth says the house was fully involved upon arrival and the victim of the fire is believed to be the 84-year-old woman who resided at the home.

Authorities are unable to formally identify the victim at this time pending an autopsy, however family members have confirmed it was Louise Bradfield.

Investigators were on the scene this morning trying to determine the fire’s exact origin and cause, but no foul play is suspected according to Chief Wirth. The home was a total loss.
