Elderly Heard County man dies from injuries after ATV crash

(Franklin, GA) — An 87-year-old Heard County man has died as a result of injuries he sustained in a Wednesday evening accident in the Roosterville community.

The victim was identified as Willie Lee “Bill” Parmer according to an accident report released Friday morning by the Georgia State Patrol.

Parmer was riding his John Deere all-terrain utility vehicle in his driveway at his residence Wednesday when he entered the highway and was struck by a Dodge Ram pickup truck and trailer that was traveling southbound on Roosterville Road.

GSP Trooper Jordan Watkins says no charges are expected to be filed in the crash as it is believed Mr. Parmer inadvertently pulled out into the highway causing the unavoidable collision with the oncoming truck.

He was was thrown from the ATV on impact and transported from the scene via life-flight to Grady Hospital in Atlanta with critical injuries.

Family members report Mr. Parmer succumbed to those injuries and passed away early this morning. He was a retired truck driver who enjoyed spending time on his farm.
