Fatal crash claims life of local teen

(Franklin, GA) — A single-vehicle accident claimed the life of a local teenager Wednesday morning near Franklin.

Tyler Batchelor

According to a report by Georgia State Trooper Chris Davison the driver of a 1998 Toyota 4-Runner, 18-year-old Anthony Tyler Batchelor, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on HWY 100 North at the intersection of Davis Road.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on HWY 100 and likely never slowed down after going straight through a curve and crossing the southbound lane of 100 and Davis Road before going up an embankment and striking a tree head-on.

Trooper Davison says that indications are that driver fatigue and speed were likely contributing factors in the accident that occurred around 6:00 AM.

Tyler was at one-time a student in Heard County schools and participated in football at several levels in Heard County athletic programs. He was currently employed by an electrical contractor.
