Georgia extends school closures through remainder of school year

(Atlanta, GA) — Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced Wednesday afternoon the extension of school closures in Georgia through the remainder of the school year.

During a 4:00 PM press conference, Kemp ordered schools to be closed for the rest of the school year and will issue a state-wide shelter in place order starting Thursday to last through April 13.

The last day of school and senior graduation night at Heard High had been scheduled for May 22, 2020.

Heard County school officials remain committed to having a Senior Graduation ceremony at some point in the future if at all possible once public gatherings are again declared to be safe.
