Georgia State Trooper in Stable Condition After Accident

A two-car accident this afternoon on near Welcome Road  in northern Heard County sent Georgia State Trooper Michael Allen to Tanner Medical Center in Carrollton where he is reported to be in stable condition as he undergoes tests and x-rays.

According to Gordy Wright with the Georgia State Patrol Allen was travelling northbound on US 27 around 4:05 this afternoon and attempted to pass another vehicle.  That vehicle began to change lanes in front of him, Trooper Allen attempted to avoid contact with the vehicle, clipped it, and the patrol car overturned into the median.

The driver of the other vehicle, Mr. John Wiggins, 66, of Franklin who was also traveling northbound, was able to drive away from the scene with no injuries and only minor damage to his 2008 Tacoma Truck.

Both vehicles were also carrying dogs, but both animals were reported to be uninjured.

Further details of the accident are still unavailable at this time but will be reported as soon as they are made available.
