HCMS student in good condition after being struck by car (Updated)

A 13-year old boy, Jordan Beard, is in good condition at Tanner Medical Center at this time after being struck earlier this afternoon by a car on Bevis Rd.

Shelia Beard, Jordan’s grandmother, reports that he is scraped and banged up but in overall good condition with no broken bones.

They are still awaiting results of some precautionary tests.

One of Jordan’s best friends, Camry Brice, was able to speak with him by phone. “I am so glad I was one of the first people he called. We all love Jordan so much and we are praying for him,” stated Brice.

Jordan is an eighth grader at Heard County Middle School. Further details about the accident will be posted as soon as they become available.

(Update Thursday morning 10:44 am)

Gordy Wright of the Georgia State Patrol reports that the car involved was a 1964 Volkswagon driven by 34-year-old Joey Dion Senn of Franklin.

Senn was driving northbound when he saw Beard playing with a basketball in the road. He slowed and shifted into the opposite lane but Beard darted out in front of him.

No charges were filed. Jordan was released from the hospital last night and appears to be doing well. “We want to make sure that everyone knows this was just an accident and that Senn was not at fault,” stated Shelia Beard this morning.
