Heard Authorities Seek Help in Identifying Body

(7:45 PM UPDATE: Authorities have now determined the victim is a black male)

(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County Sheriff’s Office and GBI are seeking information from the public regarding the identity of the deceased victim found yesterday in southern Heard County as well as any information surrounding his death.

The GBI Columbus Regional Office was requested by the Sheriff’s Office to assist in the investigation of the recovery of the partially decomposed body found by hunters Wednesday morning around 10:00 a.m. in a wooded area near U.S. Highway 27 and Edwards Road.

Preliminary information from the scene does indicate foul play may have been involved.

The unidentified body has been sent to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office in Atlanta for an autopsy to determine manner and cause of death.

The deceased is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and wearing black in color Champion sweatpants (size XXL), a light colored t-shirt with a blue “Belize 1981” logo on the front (size XL) and size 14 white in color Puma tennis shoes.

“Anyone with any information is asked to call the Heard County Sheriff’s Office at 706-675-3329 or the GBI Columbus Regional Office at 706-565-7888,” stated Heard County Sheriff Ross Henry.

  1. wondering if this could be the missing high school teacher from Douglasville. He’s been missing since May and he was 5’10” and about 220 lbs. He was 62 years old and named Larry Bolen
