Heard County reports 7th person has died with COVID-19

(Franklin, GA) — According to reports from the Georgia Department of Public Health, a total of seven people have now died in Heard County with COVID-19.

Although case numbers had been really low for several weeks, an uptick in late October has raised the total number of reported confirmed infections in Heard County to 256 as of 3:00 PM today.

The first case in the county was confirmed on March 18 while the 100th case was reported on July 19. There have been 26 cases confirmed during the last two weeks.

Preliminary reports indicate the latest person to pass away with the virus in Heard County was a 68-year-old male.

Prior to this reported death, the other six COVID-19 deaths reported in Heard County were all females.

Statewide Georgia added a total of 1,673cases today to bring the state total to 377,694 confirmed cases since the outbreak began.

A total of 69 new deaths were reported in Georgia today bringing that total to 8,333.

It is important to note that reporting of both cases and deaths lag behind the actual time the positive test results occur and the deaths take place.
