Heard County School System offering emergency food for all students

(Franklin, GA) — The Heard County School is offering free food items for all Heard County students this week at designated times and locations.

The emergency food program is being headed up by popular Heard County Elementary School counselor June Barber.

The first pick-up time will take place this Wednesday afternoon from 3:00-5:00 PM at Heard Elementary School located at 4647 Pea Ridge Road in Franklin.

Pick up will take place at the main drive at Heard County Elementary School.

Organizers ask that you just drive up, roll down your window, and receive your food.

Barber says only a small group of people will be handling the food items and will be wearing gloves while practicing social distancing and remaining six feet apart.

For those that would like to donate non-perishable food items to help out the emergency cause for students may drop off in the lobby at the Franklin Police Station at any time.

Arrangements are also in the works for home food delivery for students already a part of the ‘backpack’ program.

Barber also says if you know anyone in need that might be too proud to reach out please do not call text the pertinent information to 678-378-2151.

For those non students in need, stay tuned for information on other resources here at HeardCitizen.com later today.
