Homeowners lose everything after escaping overnight house fire

(Franklin, GA) — An overnight home fire in the Texas community early Wednesday morning destroyed the belongings of the two homeowners who thankfully were able to escape the fire without being injured.

According to a report by Fire Chief Steve Wirth, Heard County Emergency Services were dispatched at 2:41 AM to the one story home located on HWY 34 in western Heard County.

“First arriving units found the rear portion of the home on fire. The fire was contained to the rear portion of the residence with the entire structure suffering heat and smoke damage,” said Chief Wirth in the report.

“The owners stated that they were notified by their alarm system which allowed them to get out of the residence.”

Fire officials are trying to determine what might have started the fire.

The home is owned by Joe and Keith Soles and friends are already trying to help the men to recover from the tremendous loss.

Those wishing to help can click here to visit a gofundme page arranged by a family member.

“Most people that know Joe and Keith know how giving they are. They never ask for help, but this time they need our help. I am trying to help them see some sort of normal over the coming weeks,” says the gofundme page creator Felicia Bridgette.

“Not only are they homeless now, they have no clothes or shoes. Everything they needed to survive was inside that house. Yes they had insurance, but it was not much and it will be a long process before they even see any of that.”

Gift cards and other donations for Joe and Keith Soles can also be mailed to them directly at P.O. Box 44, Franklin, GA 30217.
